Why a tier explorer?

Rarity does not reliably predict combat power, and the third-party Shindo Life rankings disagree by several tiers. The Patch-aware Tier Explorer is a deterministic scorer you can run in your browser. It does not invent data: every score is computed from move metrics, mode weight, freshness decay, and confidence gating. The engine is the same one used to derive the wiki’s headline tier table.

Inputs

  • Bloodline and Element pair. Each Bloodline ships with three moves (low, mid, and final-stage jutsu); each Element is a separate slot system.
  • Play mode. Choose PvP, PvE, Boss, or Mixed. Mixed weights PvP 0.4 / PvE 0.4 / Boss 0.2.
  • Player, Bloodline, and Element levels. Moves gated above your level are scored at zero with a separate warning.
  • Patch version. The default is 249.5 (current). Older patches receive a stale-data warning, and any patch newer than the verified roster is treated as provisional.
  • Source vote weight and recency half-life. Both default to community-tracker medians.

What the outputs mean

Output Meaning
Bloodline score (0-100) Weighted average of move scores under the chosen mode, scaled by the Bloodline’s mode-scaling multiplier.
Element score (0-100) Independent Element score, used as the pair-axis component.
Pair score (0-100) 0.55 × Bloodline + 0.30 × Element + 15 × synergy + 0.05 × community vote × freshness.
Synergy (0-1) Role complement, chainability, stat-scaling match, resource fit, and coverage gap.
Bloodline tier / Pair tier S+ ≥ 92, S ≥ 84, A ≥ 72, B ≥ 60, C ≥ 45, otherwise D.
Freshness (0-1) exp(-ln(2) × age_days / recency_half_life_days). Falls to 0 for future or incompatible records.
Confidence (0-1) coverage × source_quality × freshness. Stale flag is raised when freshness or coverage is below 0.65.

How to apply it to your pair

  1. Pick your current Bloodline and Element.
  2. Set the play mode that matches your grind: PvP duel, world boss, or mixed.
  3. Read the pair tier. If freshness is below 0.65, the warning panel explains whether the score is stale (ranked tier), sparse (insufficient data), or contested (community disagreement).
  4. Compare two Bloodlines side by side. The pair score tells you whether the swap is worth losing your current Bloodline investment.

Edge cases

  • Locked moves. Moves gated above the player level return 0 with a separate warning.
  • Sparse coverage. Fewer than three usable moves returns insufficient data and an explicit warning rather than a synthetic D.
  • Wide vote spread. A weighted median is shown; rank is never averaged away when the community disagrees by more than 15 points.
  • Patch mismatch. Any patch other than 249.5 raises the stale-data warning; any patch newer than the verified roster is treated as provisional.
  • Missing synergy. Synergy defaults to neutral 0.5 with the synergy estimated flag, widening the confidence interval.

Methodology

The ranking prioritizes move performance, PvP/PvE/boss utility, accessibility, and Bloodline–Element synergy. Patch version and freshness prevent an old ranking from looking permanent. The tool is the engine; the wiki tier table is what the engine says.
